Using Modo

Uploading videos

Three ways to get a video into Modo, the web app, your AI agent, or an import from a URL.

There are three ways to add a video. All three end in the same place: the video appears in your library, Cloudflare encodes it, and when it is ready you get a player embed and a share link.

In the web app

Open the app and add a video from your computer. Files up to 200 MB upload in a single request. Larger files use resumable uploads, so a dropped connection does not mean starting over. Videos can be up to four hours long.

From your machine, through your AI agent

If you have connected an AI agent (see Connecting your AI agent), you can say something like:

Here's a video on my machine at ~/Desktop/demo.mov. Upload it to Modo and give me the embed code.

An AI agent connected over MCP cannot send a file from your computer through the MCP connection itself. So this is what happens:

  1. The agent calls the create_upload tool. Modo returns a one-time upload URL.
  2. The agent runs a curl command on your machine that sends the file straight to that URL.
  3. The agent checks the video with get_video until it is ready, then gives you the embed and the link.

The command looks like this:

curl -X POST -F file=@/Users/you/Desktop/demo.mov "https://upload.example.com/one-time-url"

The upload URL works once and expires, so it is safe to show in a conversation. Your agent needs permission to run shell commands for this step.

Import from a URL

If the video is already online, ask the agent to import it. It calls import_video_from_url with the address, and Cloudflare fetches the file. Nothing needs to pass through your computer.

Processing

After an upload, a video is first processing, then ready. Processing time depends on the length of the video. You can use the share link and embed code as soon as the video is ready.

Limits

  • Single-request uploads: up to 200 MB.
  • Maximum length: four hours.
  • Your plan sets how many minutes you can store. See Usage and billing.
